In Search of John Willis Tanner's Ancestry

The Ancestry and Place of Birth for John Willis Tanner continues to be unknown.  There are legends and stories, but none have been verified.  If you are visiting this page and have any tidbit of information that we can pursue that would help us in this endeavor, PLEASE share.  He and his wife, Mary Dorothea Baker, acquired their passport across Indian Lands in 1811 at Laurens County, GA.  They evidently used "The Old Federal Road" to take them to Jackson County, MS near Mobile, AL where he served in the U. S. Military in 1814 and continued to live and prosper.
